“I just wanted to commend you guys on the great job you guys are doing! I
just opened up an account at textdrive 2 days ago (before I heard about
railsplayground and knew much about shared webhosting companies). Then, I
heard about you guys and saw how much more features you guys offered
compared to textdrive and for much less too.
You would figure that since textdrive is the “official” rubyonrails
webhosting company, it would be the easiest to setup and configure, but this
is not the case at all. Don’t believe the hype. Although, I configured
everything and got things running on Textdrive relatively quickly, in a few
hours, it was not the slam dunk I thought it was going to be. It was a pain
in the you know what. On the other hand, I had the complete opposite
experience at railsplayground. Your web cpanel is great and the default
home directory structure was pretty much ready go out of the box, as it
should be. There was even the lighttpd.conf file and the lighttpdctl
control script. I was and am very impressed.
